Saturday, 22 November 2003 Gael Clichy has expressed his happiness with life at Arsenal, and his great admiration for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger. The 18-year-old full back joined Arsenal last summer on a free transfer from Cannes, despite interest from a host of clubs in France. Clichy revealed it was Wenger who persuaded him to take the plunge and move abroad, and is confident he can make an impact at Highbury in the future. The talented left-sided youngster has made just one senior appearance this term, in the Carling Cup against Rotherham, and is hoping to secure more first team experience as the campaign progresses. "Frankly I didn't see myself leaving to go abroad so early," Clichy admitted to L'Equipe. "I have visited other French clubs, but I appreciated a lot the words of Arsene Wenger. "When I came to the club, he told me he believed in me, and that I have to be patient and go on working. "You have to have aims, if not you can't improve. "While being realistic, I hope to be on the bench as often as possible this season and play short parts of matches. Then, we will see." skysports.planetfootball.com/Article.asp?id=173514
