Young Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere has been called up to the France Under-21 squad for their European Championship play-off against Portugal. France travel to Guimaraes for the first leg on Saturday before returning to Clermont-Ferrand in France for the second leg on Tuesday.

Arsenal midfielder Gilberto has been called up to the Brazil squad for two World Cup qualifiers. The defending champions take on Peru in Lima on November 16 before flying to Brazil to face Uruguay in Curitiba three days later.

Ashley Cole could win his 22nd cap for England after being named in Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad to face Denmark on Sunday. However, Sol Campbell will miss the international friendly after picking up a minor ankle injury.
