At the end of my year at Barcelona I think I will deserve to be given a chance in the first team at Arsenal. At the moment I am on loan to Barcelona for a year, but I remain an Arsenal player. So, as it stands I intend to go back to Highbury and prove myself there.
There is no doubt that I'm getting the sort of big match practice here at Barcelona that I wasn't getting at Arsenal, and I'm pretty pleased with the way I'm playing. Obviously the team has struggled a bit, but we are working hard to get it right and that is helping me a lot.
The experience here at Barcelona is exactly what I needed. I have a lot of confidence at the moment and I'm starting to play the sort of football that I know I am capable of. It would obviously be nice to be able to show the Arsenal fans what I can do. I will definitely be a better player at the end of my year with Barcelona and I feel I will be in a position to make an impact at Arsenal. Regular football at a high level is what I needed and that is what I am getting here.
Obviously a lot can happen over the year, and it is impossible to say now what the future holds, but the agreement was for me to be loaned to Barca for a year and then return to Arsenal. I'm still happy that's the case and when the time comes, if nothing has changed, I will go back with a lot of belief in myself and what I can contribute to Arsenal football club. In the meantime I am concentrating on my game here, trying to improve all the time, and help this great Barcelona club to be a successful again.
