Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says the Football Association and Uefa must test players for drugs far more often.
Wenger is urging tougher controls on drugs
Wenger revealed that some of his leading players had not been randomly tested in the past six years.
"In England, you can't say the game is clean if you don't check more regularly," Wenger declared.
"I have asked officially that there should be more control in England and in European games. I think Uefa have to do more about it as well," he added.
Wenger continued: "There are social drugs and performance-enhancing drugs and you have to make sure that neither of them happen.
"The testers come just once a year to the training ground and draw out the names of four players.
"That could be four players from the youth team. We have players here who have never been tested like that in six or seven years.
"We want a clean sport and to get that you need more tests " Arsene Wenger .
"It's important that we can say we are a professional sport that is clean. At the moment, I think we are but, with the number of controls that are made, you have no facts to prove that."
The FA has increased the number of drugs tests carried out in this country by independent testers from UK Sport over the past few years.
It is committed to ensuring that each Premiership club will be tested at least six times either at training or after a game this season.
But Wenger insisted: "I'm not a doctor to know how many times you have to test to make sure that nothing happens.
"But, in Italy, they have made a step forward as they felt they had a doping problem and they do it every week.
"All the other professional sports have made that step. It is the responsibility of the FA to make sure there is no problem at all.
