after long injury lay-off. It's been a long wait, but Rami Shaaban has finally resumed training with the first-team squad at Arsenal after breaking his leg last December. The 28-year-old goalkeeper suffered the injury during a training session on Christmas Eve last year and is understandably rusty after such a long lay-off. "I have worked with the others in the side for two days," said Shaaban. "It has felt quite good. "The timing on crosses and such things is not exactly on top but I had not expected that, either. After all, it's over nine months since the last time I collected a cross." Shaaban has shown admirable patience since arriving at Highbury in August 2002. His wait for a first-team chance ended last November when David Seaman was injured and Shaaban stepped in for Champions League games at PSV Eindhoven and Roma as well as Premiership clashes with Tottenham, Aston Villa and Manchester United. Shaaban enhanced his reputation with some solid displays but suffered a setback at Old Trafford when a groin injury forced him off towards the end of the first half. He recovered swiftly but the Christmas Eve accident put paid to Shaaban's chances of playing again last season. He is ready to make a fresh start this season but will not rush his comeback to competitive action. "I feel it every now and then," he admitted. "I will meet the doctors soon, then we will see what happens."
