Arsenal defender Lauren could use a possible FA suspension to have surgery on a troublesome knee problem.
The Cameroon international has a cartilage problem that may require an operation. And with a possible six-match ban looming, Arsenal could use the right-back's enforced absence to ensure he stays healthy.
Lauren said: "I continue to have a knee cartilage problem which was found three years ago after a check-up."
"I am now waiting for more results. If the pains continue I would not rule out surgery."
Lauren is facing two charges of violent conduct and one of improper conduct following his behaviour after the Manchester United clash of September 21.
Arsenal were handed 11 charges in all for the behaviour of their players - and have until 5pm on Monday to launch an appeal.
Martin Keown and Ray Parlour face charges of both violent conduct and improper conduct, while Jens Lehmann, Ashley Cole and Patrick Vieira are also in trouble for the latter charge, while Arsenal face another charge as a club for 'failing to control' their players.
Manchester United duo Christiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs are also facing possible FA suspensions for the same incidents.
