Dear Arsenal supporter,
I was delighted with the result on Saturday, particularly because we weren't at our best at Anfield.
Liverpool had a great start and we were on the ropes for the first 25 or 30 minutes. We couldn't get out of our own half and they had two or three chances to kill the game after Harry Kewell gave them the lead.
We struggled early on because we gave them too much time on the ball. I also think we had heavy legs but we got better as the game went on.
It was a flattering result at half-time after Edu's header deflected off Sami Hyypia to give us the equaliser. That was our first chance and we made it 1-1.
But as much as Liverpool had the initiative in the first half, we had it in the second. A wonderful goal by Pires got us the three points.
To be 1-0 down after playing at Moscow on Tuesday and coming back to win 2-1 tells you a lot about the mental strength of the team.
I was very pleased for Robert. I left him out for two games, but he has responded well in the last two games since then and he was outstanding on Saturday.
The goal he scored was just... Pires. He scores goals like that in training a lot. He gave everything that was in his legs and we always know he is capable of doing something like that.
We have an international break now followed by another tough Premiership game against Chelsea at Highbury on October 18. Let's hope we can continue our good run against Claudio Ranieri's team.
Thanks for your support.
