Former Juventus and Padova striker Giuseppe Galderisi has suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 40. The forward, known to his fans as ‘Nanu’, was rushed to hospital in Padova late last night. An emergency angioplasty was performed and he is currently in intensive care, but doctors are optimistic that he will pull through. Galderisi was one of the crucial elements of the Hellas Verona side that won the Scudetto in 1985. He also wore the jerseys of Juventus, Lazio and Milan before ending his career in a seven-year spell with Padova. An Italian international born in Salerno on March 22 1963, Galderisi first hit the headlines with Juventus when scoring 16 goals in the 1981-82 campaign. He now runs a football school for youngsters and had no previous history of heart problems.
