Reports say Israeli forces have killed two Palestinians in separate clashes with militants in the Gaza Strip. Palestinians say tanks and helicopters were usedTroops opened fire on a group of Palestinians discovered close to the boundary with Israel near Khan Younis, killing one and wounding another. Palestinian medical sources said there were gunmen among the group. At the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, troops said they had shot and killed a gunman suspected of planning to attack a Jewish settlement. A second gunman was also involved in the battle which erupted, Israeli military sources said. According to Palestinian witnesses in Maghazi, mosque loudspeakers were used to call out local militants to resist the attack and the Israelis sent in tanks and helicopters to back up their soldiers. In the clash near Khan Younis, Israeli sources said the Palestinians had entered an off-limits area near the boundary with Israel. That clash reportedly came after Palestinian militants fired five mortar rounds at Jewish settlements in the Strip which exploded harmlessly.
