It's easy to lose track of the news. So at the end of the week, it's good to keep an eye on some of those things which shouldn't go unnoticed.
If you spot something you think should be included next week, send it to us using the form at the bottom of the page.
1. The man behind one of football's most enduring heroes, Roy of the Rovers, has died. Derek Birnage was the first editor of Tiger comic, which featured Roy Race in its launch issue in 1954. Roy led his team, Melchester Rovers, to numerous cup titles while remaining eternally youthful - he was 29 for years. Mr Birnage died aged 90.
2. Just a Minute's Sir Clement Freud was one of Field Marshal Montgomery's aides in WWII.
3. There's a police cell in the House of Commons.
4. Some pigeons follow roads and turn off at motorway junctions to navigate their way around.
5. Computer maker Hewlett-Packard is experimenting with using corn starch instead of plastic to make its printers more environmentally sound.
6. Germaine Greer's Australian retreat is just over the hill - and less than 3km by road - from the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! set.
7. One in 750 people is born with one kidney, a condition central to a current EastEnders plotline in which DJ Ronny is stabbed. As doctors prepare to remove his damaged kidney, they discover he has only one and needs a transplant... from his unhinged secret half-brother.
8. 516 million mobile phones were sold worldwide in 2003, according to figures published by Strategy Analytics.
9. Despite all the advertising about its video phones, mobile company 3 has just 0.5% market share in the UK.
10. Fingernails only rip across, not downwards, as the middle layer is reinforced with long cell structures.
