Juventus 7-0 Olympiakos
Juventus secured top spot in Group D of the UEFA Champions League following a 7-0 annihilation of Olympiakos, with Fabrizio Miccoli the star performer for the home side.
The visitors, who needed a win to retain hopes of a Uefa Cup place, started brightly, with Predrag Djordjevic and Pantelis Kafes causing early problems.
However, Juve with their first attack of note in the contest, took the lead when Enzo Maresca's square ball inside the penalty area eluded Dimitris Eleftheropoulos for David Trezeguet to tap-in from point blank range.
It was two just five minutes later when the impressive Maresca saw his shot blocked only for Miccoli to pick up the ball and flash his left-footed shot into the far post.
Olympiakos tried to stem the flow but the Turin giants seemed to score with every attack and they made it three shortly after when Trezeguet side-footed home after Maresca's through-ball.
The contest was over minutes later when Maresca, a former West Brom star, was on hand to superbly strike home a left-footed shot after Miccoli's initial shot was saved.
Djordjevic was the visitors' main threat, however one figured it would not be their night when Antonio Chimenti, filling in for Gianluigi Buffon, saved his long-range free-kick down low.
Juve almost made it five shortly after the half time interval, however Eleftheropoulos superbly kept out Trezeguet's close-range header from Miccoli's cross.
Neri Castillo should have pulled one back for the Greeks, but the teenage Uruguayan somehow fired over under pressure after rounding Chimenti.
Shortly after Giovanni almost netted with a cheeky back-heel, while Trezeguet was stretchered off after missing from four yards out after Miccoli's shot crashed off both posts.
The Frenchman was replaced by Marco Di Vaio and he was on hand to turn in Miccoli's right-footed near post shot, before another substitute Alessandro Del Piero scored with his first touch.
Marcelo Zalayeta made it seven late on when he headed home a corner at the far post to seal the biggest ever winning margin by a team in the Champions League.
Castillo did have the ball in the net but it was chalked off for offside, securing Juve's record breaking Champions League result.
