England captain David Beckham could miss next week's friendly against Sweden after bruising his leg.
Beckham missed training with Real Madrid on Friday and the club doctor revealed he is unlikely to be fit for their game against Sevilla on Sunday.
Sven-Goran Eriksson names his squad after Saturday's Premiership matches.
But Michael Owen injured his hamstring playing for Liverpool and is also doubtful, while Arsenal striker Ashley Cole is out with a knee problem.
Eriksson may opt to name both Beckham and Owen in his squad so that they can spend time with the rest of the party as they continue their preparation for Euro 2004.
The England coach avoided surprise selections for his previous squad against Portugal, but with Rio Ferdinand definitely out of Euro 2004, he may want to explore further defensive options.
Central defenders Sol Campbell and John Terry are certain to make the squad, if fit, with Jonathan Woodgate and Gareth Southgate also in contention.
But Eriksson could use England's final away fixture before Euro 2004 to assess Fulham's Zat Knight, who has been linked with a call-up in the national press this week.
Tottenham defender Ledley King scored in the 1-1 draw against Portugal and is hopeful of another outing.
If Owen does not make the squad, Eriksson could give another striker a late opportunity to stake a claim for a place in the Euro 2004 squad, with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe in the frame.
