Alan Shearer has revealed he turned down the chance to come out of international retirement and rejoin the England set-up.
The Newcastle striker ended his England career after Euro 2000 but has told Tyneside fanzine The Mag that he was approached about a possible return.
"The opportunity arose around six or seven months ago," said Shearer.
"However, I thought about it and the reasons I initially gave for retiring still stood."
