Tord Grip has hinted England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will remain in charge of the national team for the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign. There has been speculation Eriksson will return to club football after Euro 2004, but Grip suggested otherwise. Eriksson's right-hand man said: "We are planning for the Euro 2004 finals and we are also planning for the World Cup. "There's been a lot of speculation all the time but Sven is still here and intends to stay here." Grip was speaking after the fixture schedule for Group Six for the World Cup qualifying campaign was decided. He added: "Now we have seen the fixtures, it makes the prospect even more exciting, although we have to get back to focusing on Euro 2004 now as that's the main thing." The FA have offered Eriksson a two-year contract extension until 2008. Grip himself has not yet been offered a contract extension, though the assistant coach said he would "be happy to stay on if Sven wants me".
