Charlton Athletic midfielder Scott Parker says he has no problem handling the attention that goes with what looks like him winning a first England cap against Denmark on Sunday.
The 23-year-old first came to the nation's attention when he appeared in an advertisement for McDonald's when he was 13 parading his skills and he says he has had to get use to dealing with questions and pressure ever since.
"People stare at me in the street, start whispering and nudging each other," said Parker.
“Then they ask me if I'm the McDonald's Boy but all I'm really interested in is playing football."
The midfield work-horse signed a new five-year deal with The Addicks in the summer and Parker says he feels that he can fulfil his international ambitions while at The Valley despite not being one of the country's more glamorous clubs.
"I definitely feel I can fulfil my England ambitions playing for Charlton," he added.
"It would obviously be a lot easier if I was playing at a bigger club and I know it will be harder for me.
"But I signed a new deal with the club because I love playing for Charlton.
"It's very pleasing when you hear your manager speak so highly about you and it gives me confidence as a player.
"I know it will be tough to get into the England side because there are so many good players in my position.
"But all I can do is keep playing well for Charlton then see what happens."
Parker has only made one previous appearance in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad when he was called up for the friendly against Australia back in February.
Parker added: "That was definitely the pinnacle of my career so far, breaking into the England squad, and it rounded off a brilliant season for me.
"It can change you as a player because it opens your eyes when you're surrounded by the best players in England.
"You realise how hard you have to work to be where they are. I learned so much."
