David Beckham has insisted that it is important both he and the rest of the England players conduct themselves properly off the pitch.
His comments come in response to news that the Football Association have received information from an English newspaper, which states that unnamed Premiership players are alleged to have used cocaine, with some of those players allegedly being current England internationals.
The Real Madrid star made clear what responsibilities he and his international team-mates must carry as part of The Three Lions following reports of alleged recreational drug use by unnamed Premiership players.
"Definitely, I think that all players are aware of their responsibilities," Beckham said.
"The players I have played with are all fully aware of their responsibilities of being in the public eye and with me being England captain, you are totally aware of your responsibility.
"It's probably unfair for me to comment on what's happening at the moment."
The former Manchester United player added that he has never been tempted to use illegal drugs himself and that no one has offered any to him.
"Never. I never put myself in that sort of position," added Beckham.
"I'm a family person, I like to go out with my wife and obviously I go out with my friends, but I've never been put in that position."
He pleaded with his fellow professionals not to be drawn into taking recreational drugs and to look to conduct themselves properly.
"There are a lot of things that happen these days both in football and outside of football, but of course players have got to conduct themselves," stated Beckham
