ROME (AP) -- David Trezeguet and Pavel Nedved scored a goal each Saturday as Juventus beat lowly Modena 2-0 to consolidate its lead in Italy's top league.
La Juve. which stretched its unbeaten streak to 10 matches, has 26 points in the Serie A standings, five clear of AS Roma and AC Milan, which are tied in second place ahead of Sunday's matches.
The Roman team is at Bologna and AC Milan is at Chievo Verona.
Trezeguet gave Juventus a first-half lead with a controversial goal in the 42nd minute at the Alberto Braglia stadium. The unmarked French striker netted his seventh goal this season from a few meters (yards) following a free kick that Modena players claimed was kicked from the wrong position.
The referee ignored their protests.
Nedved, the Czech midfielder who is in the running for the prestigious Golden Ball award, made it two in the 50th with a spectacular long-distance drive that sealed the win for the visitors.
Despite the two goals, 39-year-old Modena goalkeeper Marco Ballotta made a number of saves, including two on Alessandro Del Piero, who returned to action two weeks ago from a two-month injury absence.
Modena's second home loss, which ended a three-match winning streak, left it with 14 points in the upper half of the standings.
Juventus and Inter Milan, which played host to Reggina in a late match, had their Serie A games on Saturday because of their Champions League commitments.
Inter Milan will play Arsenal at San Siro on Tuesday while Juventus' match with Galatasaray, originally scheduled on the same day, was postponed by UEFA to Dec. 2 following suicide attacks in Istanbul.
Juventus, which already qualified for the next round of the European competition, has been pressing UEFA to play Galatasaray at a neutral venue in its Group D game.
