skysports.planetfootball.comRobbie Savage will miss Wales' clash with England next month after Fifa upheld the red card he picked up against Northern Ireland. The Birmingham midfielder was handed his marching orders by referee Domenico Messina at The Millennium Stadium after reacting to a poor challenge from Irish midfielder Michael Hughes. Savage attempted to remonstrate with Hughes, but was shoved to the floor as players from both sides stepped in to calm the situation. Messina deemed Savage to have acted improperly and sent him for an early bath, along with Hughes. Savage felt he was harshly treated in being sent off and lodged an appeal against the suspension. The world's governing body reviewed the incident and deemed that Messina had been correct in his assessment, which rules Savage out of the clash with The Three Lions at Old Trafford.
