www.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,7-1141854,00.html The Dutch Football Association has revealed that Dick Advocaat has quit as national team coach of Holland. The former Rangers chief had said last week that he had already decided what his future holds, following their exit from Euro 2004. Advocaat's men reached the last four in Portugal but he was constantly criticised by both the fans and the media. He had become upset at the treatment he received despite reaching the semi-finals of a major tournament, and has decided that enough is enough. Advocaat has decided against leading Holland in their qualification for World Cup 2006 in Germany, feeling that he did not have enough support to carry on. Assistant Willem van Hanegem has also stepped down from his post as a result of Advocaat's departure. The KNVB say that they hope to appoint a successor before they take on Sweden in a friendly in August. The new man will then have a game to look at his squad before they begin qualifying for Germany.
