news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/3844495.stmFormer Celtic striker Henrik Larsson is poised to be unveiled as a Barcelona player on Wednesday. Provided he passes a medical, the 32-year-old Swedish striker is expected to sign a one-year deal, with an option for a second year. "He has been on the list of our coaching staff for some time," said club president Joan Laporta. Larsson spent seven years at Celtic but quit at the end of last season and has been available on a free transfer. Larsson would further strengthen Barcelona's squad for next season after they captured Monaco's Ludovic Guily. Larsson was persuaded to come out of international retirement for Euro 2004 and scored two goals for Sweden against Bulgaria. Plenty of clubs were keen to sign the player but his agent Rob Jansen said the Catalan side were always his preferred choice. Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain said: "It is something to be proud of for the club that a player that finishes his contract does not want to talk to anyone else until Barca have given him a response."
