Besiktas have been charged by Uefa with the improper conduct of fans during Tuesday's UEFA Champions League defeat to Chelsea.
After receiving both the referee and delegate's reports of the match, Uefa have confirmed that the Turkish club will be charged for missile throwing and the setting off of flares.
Due to the current volatile political situation in Turkey, the game was staged at the Aufschalke Stadium in Germany.
Chelsea players and staff were subjected to a hail of missiles throughout the game and even had to resort to the use of umbrellas to protect themselves.
The Uefa control and disciplinary body will discuss the case at its next hearing on February 21.
Chelsea player's John Terry and Frank Lampard have both lobbied this week for Uefa to take action against the Turkish club.
"It was lucky that nobody was hurt," said Lampard. "We had bundles of coins coming at us, even in the warm-up.
"I am sure Uefa have got legislation to deal with this and it is about time they did something about it."
Blues defender John Terry compared the experience to playing for England in Turkey in their final Euro 2004 qualifier in October.
"It was pretty similar to Turkey but this was one of the most hostile crowds I have ever played in front of," said Terry.
"It is not good for football and they should definitely do something about it. It seems to be part of their football and it is not nice, but thankfully nobody got hurt.
"They had 50,000 fans there but we went out and did a great job. We knew what to expect and fortunately it didn't affect us at all."
