Juventus have resigned themselves to losing Edgar Davids on a free transfer at the end of this season. The Dutchman has less than a year left on his Delle Alpi contract and the club believe his time in Turin is drawing to a conclusion. "At the end of this season he will be free from any contractual obligations," director general Luciano Moggi stated. "Therefore he will be able to choose his next destination. Will we try to keep him? I don’t think so." The former Ajax man was expected to leave the Italian champions for Roma but that now looks unlikely. Although the Giallorossi are interested, their financial problems seem to have ended any hope of signing the international. That now makes Inter the more likely destination with speculation suggesting that Davids has already bought a house in the city. Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are being heavily linked with two rising stars of the Italian game. Moggi is understood to have contacted Atalanta over the availability of 19-year-old attacking midfielder Giampaolo Pazzini. Juve will reportedly make a bid for the youngster in January but allow him to stay in Bergamo until 2005. Fellow midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, just 18, is also being associated with the Italian champions.
