Greg Ross scored the winner to lift Dunfermline Athletic off the bottom of the Scottish Premier League after a surprise victory over leaders Celtic.
Ross fired home after being set up by an Andy Tod header to give the Pars a deserved lead after 17 minutes.
Artur Boruc prevented Ross adding a second with a superb save soon after.
Celtic, whose lead at the top of the SPL is reduced to one point, dominated after the break as headers from Chris Sutton and John Hartson flashed wide.
Dunfermline, only able to name six substitutes due to injuries and having suffered seven straight defeats, had brought in Jamie McCunnie and Aaron Labonte for Craig Wilson and Iain Campbell.
And the visitors suffered another blow after 13 minutes, when Yannick Zambernardi over-stretched for the ball and Campbell came on in the injured full-back's place.
But Dunfermline snatched the lead four minutes later against a Celtic side lacking creativity without injured midfielders Shaun Maloney and Shunsuke Nakamura.
Campbell fired a free-kick into the far side of the area and Andy Tod rose above Mo Camara to head back across goal.
Ross reacted quicker than those around him to force the ball past Boruc from just six yards out.
Dunfermline almost doubled their advantage in the 25th minute.
Noel Hunt had the disjointed Celtic defence in all sorts of problems with his cross into the box.
But Boruc denied Ross with a brilliant point-blank save before Paul Telfer deflected Derek Young's follow-up wide of the upright.
The home side looked desperately short of ideas and had failed to produce a single shot on goal in a frustrating first half.
Chris Sutton, who had returned to the Celtic side along with Alan Thompson, eventually brought Allan McGregor into the action with a header after the break, but it was straight at the goalkeeper.
Celtic were dominating possession but failing to create chances and boss Gordon Strachan brought on Maciej Zurawski for Thompson.
Sutton fired high over the bar after some poor Pars defending.
Stephen McManus was denied strong penalty claims after being challenged in the box by Scott Wilson.
A Hartson diving header flew just wide following a Telfer cross and Sutton sent another header against the outside of the post with McGregor stranded.
Boruc went into the Pars penalty area for two late corners but could not prevent the Fifers achieving a morale-boosting victory.
