news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/4328508.stmRepublic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne is demanding an end to the baiting of manager Brian Kerr ahead of the country's biggest game for years. The lacklustre manner of Saturday's 1-0 win over Cyprus has intensified the pressure on the under-fire boss before Wednesday's match with Switzerland. "The situation with Brian has been annoying," said Dunne. "We feel as a group, with these games being so important, we are not getting much support. Everything is negative." According to Dunne, this is in stark contrast to the atmosphere in the Republic squad. "In the camp everyone is fine. We all know what our job is. The confidence is there and we are all really up for it. "This is a big week for us. We want the crowd and media on our side. The more people get behind us, the better. "We all want to go to the World Cup, primarily for ourselves, but it would be nice if we had everyone behind us because that makes things easier and everyone can enjoy it a bit more. Dunne concedes to a feeling of 'doing it for Kerr', adding: "Because of the press he has had in the last few weeks you do start to feel for him. "He's put everything into it over the last few years, travelling all over the world to watch games. "He enjoys managing Ireland, and I know he would love to be a manager at the World Cup. It would mean a lot to him to take us there."
