United midfielder Eirik Bakke believes the more games he plays this season the better his performances will become.
He played his first game for the Whites since August when he came in for the suspended Shaun Derry at Leicester last weekend, but was replaced after an hour and did not impress manager Kevin Blackwell.
The Norwegian international, who spent three months of the season on loan at Aston Villa, insists he is still some way off being fully match fit and is appealing for more playing time to get up to scratch.
Said Eirik:"I had not trained much in the past month, just Thursday and Friday last week, due to a hamstring problem so it was good to get a run-out.
"I haven't played since 2nd January, that was my last game for Aston Villa andI know I need more games.
"The gaffer gave me a chance and hopefully there are plenty more games to play. Another week of training will do me good and then hopefully I will be ready for Saturday.
"I know my ability when fully fit and then it is up to the manager. I just want to play in every game now and see what happens.
"When I am fully fit, I think I will play. There is a long way to go yet and, hopefully, my form will come.
"I want to be a big part of the future here and there a lot to come from me."
Bakke was not the only player to underperform at the Walkers Stadium, Blackwell was angry with the whole team and let them know in no uncertain terms when they arrived back at Thorp Arch on Monday morning.
Although acknowledging the performance was poor, Bakke doesn't believe the point has done too much harm to United's hopes of catching Sheffield United and taking the second automatic promotion place.
"We didn't get the result we wanted and we are all disappointed with the way we played.
"There's a good bunch of lads here and they will keep going, we will look to create more chances in our next game but Leicester are flying at the moment and a point might not prove to be too bad."
