United boss Kevin Blackwell is in no rush to bring in new signings or allow players to leave the club, but he has admitted missing out on one player to a promotion rival.
Blackwell had been looking at potentially bringing in Blackburn midfield Gary Flitcroft, but the 33-year-old opted to join Sheffield United with Leeds unable to do a deal at the present time.
Despite Flitcroft's decision to join the Blade, Blackwell insists it is no great loss as it does not hurt his plans.
"I am not disappointed because things will be done at our pace," said Blackwell.
"Flitcroft is a great lad and I spoke to him when we played Blackburn. In an ideal world it would have been great to have him at the club but good luck to him.
"I am pleased with Sean Derry, Jonathan Douglas, Liam Miller, Gylfi Einarsson and Simon Walton who have all shown they are capable of coming in and doing more than a job at this level. At the moment I am happy with the players I've got."
Another player heavily linked to the club recently has been Norwegian international Brede Hangeland, but the Viking Stavanger defender appear to be on his way to FC Copenhagen after the Danes had their bid accepted.
Blackwell said it was simply a case of the price not being right.
"It all depends on finances and the money they are asking for him does not fit into the way we could finance it," he revealed.
The Whites boss is using the transfer window to take a look at a number of foreign trialists whose clubs are prepared to let them go for the right price, but he insists it will take something special for him to sign someone at this point, especially when the team has finally achieved stability.
"I am pleased with the attitude, commitment and the way we are starting to play right now.
"So I don't want to be too disruptive having been unintentionally disruptive in the past by the very nature of the football club and having to bring loads of players in.
"Just as we are starting to get some understanding in the team I want to maintain that as much as I can."
Blackwell is also resisting efforts to prise players away from the club. As always the papers are full of speculation about who might be leaving or coming in, but the boss insists there's very little going on to justify the hype.
"I have had a few interesting conversations with managers about certain players, but until I am able to bring someone in I am not necessarily looking to get anybody out.
"Or if there was a swap deal to be done then I might consider it but at the moment there is not a lot of transfer activity.
"Some of the stuff we are reading in the papers is so far from the truth, but as we have said before, our name will be used to help move players on at other clubs.
Blackwell does though expect the picture regarding Eirik Bakke's future to become a little clearer in the next week or so.
The Norwegian international is on loan with Aston Villa until the end of the month and there have been expressions of interest in him from a number of clubs, including the Midlands side, but as yet no firm bids have been made.
