Jason McAteer is dreaming of FA Cup glory as his Sunderland team prepare to take on Sheffield United on Sunday.
The Irish international, who last played in a quarter-final in 1996 with Liverpool, said: "If we get on a roll who knows how far it can take us?"
The Black Cats are also vying for promotion back to the Premiership and McAteer told Sunderland's website: "The league is our bread and butter.
"How many teams would like to be in our position - involved on two fronts?"
McAteer has played in four FA Cup quarter-finals and, apart from that victory in 1996 with Liverpool, he has lost each time.
"When you reach this stage it's a massive disappointment to go out," he told safc.com.
"I've felt it with Bolton and Blackburn and I've been in two losing finals (FA Cup with Liverpool and League Cup with Bolton). We'll go into it as slight favourites and it's up to us to take advantage of that."
Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy admitted the club were feeling the pressure.
"If we were playing Arsenal away or Manchester United away, it might take the pressure off," he said. "Nobody would give us a chance. There's pressure on the game.
"Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock will be saying exactly the same to his players - 'Hey, look, it's a difficult one, but we can beat this mob.'
"Tranmere will be saying the same, as will Millwall, and then we'll all be dancing round our handbags and hoping we get the other Nationwide League team in the semi-final."
