Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has revealed he would be interested in a move abroad sometime in the future. The Republic of Ireland international admitted he is attracted by the prospect of playing in a foreign country with Italy or Spain his preferred choice. Given, who still has three years to run on his current deal at Newcastle, has been linked with a shock move to Besiktas in the past and the agile shot-stopper admitted he will keep all his options open. "I would like to go to Spain or Italy. I've never had the opportunity though," Given told the Irish Sun. "The only time when I possibly could have gone outside Britain was when my contract was up at Blackburn and I signed for Newcastle. "There was talk of Besiktas being interested. I don't how much truth there was in it and I don't know if I would have fancied it because it's a bit mad out in Turkey. But I wouldn't rule it out. "Who knows whether it will happen or not. You never know what is around the corner. "To be honest, though, not a lot of keepers from the British Isles play in other countries. "A lot of foreign keepers go into England but not the other way around. Maybe they don't admire the keepers in this league. "Maybe we don't punch the ball enough rather than catch it."
