Celtic are considering signing Livingston goalkeeper Alan Main because back-up Danny Milosevic is "suffering personal problems".
Milosevic, signed last month after being released by Leeds, has been given time off by the Glasgow club.
Celtic boss Martin O'Neill said: "We will give him time and see how that develops, then have a look at it."
Former Scotland international Main is free to talk to other clubs after being offered reduced wages at Livingston.
Celtic's only back-up for Scotland first-choice Rab Douglas is young David Marshall, Sweden international Magnus Hedman having been allowed to join Ancona on loan.
"We signed Danny Milosevic until the end of the season when we knew Magnus Hedman was going to Italy," said O'Neill.
"He signed a contract, but he has a few personal problems that he wants to get resolved."
Milosevic was signed by Celtic on 29 January after impressing on trial, but the 23-year-old is now back in England.
The 23-year-old Australian had impressed on trial sufficiently to be seen as ideal back-up to Scotland international Rab Douglas.
Livingston had hoped that 36-year-old Main and five other players offered reduced terms would give a decision on Friday.
But they have now revealed that they have the right to wait 14 days, although the club now expect an answer next week.
Livingston coach Allan Preston said: "Alan's contract has been broken, so he is quite within his rights to look at other clubs.
"If it was to come about, it would certainly be a great move for him."
