Newcastle are poised to swoop for THFC captain Stephen Carr after Sir Bobby Robson raised transfer cash. Robson has £4m to spend after selling Carl Cort to Wolves and Nolberto Solano's switch to Aston Villa. And Robson is expected to move for Carr, who has been a long-time target. Carr's White Hart Lane contract expires at the end of next season and, with no sign of an agreement, THFC may sell now rather than risk losing the Repulic of Ireland defender for a smaller fee. Carr, 27, has been at White Hart Lane for 12 years and is entitled to a testimonial. But he said in December: "There have been no real talks about a new deal. "I will look at what they have to offer and, if it is right for me, then I will stay. I will have to see how things go and if they are willing to give me what I want." news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/shared/bsp/hi/football/statistics/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/players/13237/html/profile_hi.stm
