Stephen Pearson could be a Celtic player as early as Tuesday afternoon, BBC Scotland understands. It is understood that an agreement over a fee for the Scotland midfielder is not far off and could be reached soon. Motherwell boss Terry Butcher insisted on Monday morning that any interested clubs would have to increase their offers if they wanted the player. "It's up to other clubs to decide if they want to make an offer that we accept," said Butcher. "I'm not resigned to anything because it's not gone through," he added. "Stephen Pearson is still at the club so he is still a Motherwell player. "So far we haven't accepted any of the offers." O'Neill suggested on Friday that the deal hinged on an agreement over Motherwell loaning a player or players from Celtic. But Butcher insisted: "At the moment taking players on loan is not the condition or an issue in a deal. "At the moment it all comes down to money and in the meantime Stephen is going nowhere."
