John Hartson's agent does not think it inevitable that the Celtic striker will return to the English Premiership. Jonathan Barnett was responding to news that both Birmingham City and Fulham are considering making a bid for the Welsh international. "He has 18 months of his contract to run, so it is up to Celtic," Barnett told BBC Sport. "Even if Celtic do not want him, he would only go to a club of equal standing to Celtic." Hartson already has Premiership experience with Arsenal, West Ham United, Wimbledon and Coventry City. Birmingham boss Steve Bruce this week disclosed that he was considering a bid for Hartson and strike partner Henrik Larsson. Barnett admitted that Fulham boss Chris Coleman and Hartson were good friends, having played international football together. But, despite rumours that Hartson is unsettled at Celtic Park, the agent stressed: "Links with other clubs are just pure speculation. "John adores Celtic and, more importantly, he adores the fans. "He has had two-and-a-half great years there." Larsson has decided to end his successful spell in Glasgow at the end of the season, when his current contract expires. Scottish football is in the midst of serious financial problems and, while Celtic have not been forced into the major cuts suffered by title rivals Rangers, it is unlikely that manager Martin O'Neill will be given major transfer funds for a replacement.
