Republic of Ireland and Sunderland defender Gary Breen acknowledging that his central defensive partner Kenny Cunningham will not be by his side in Basel on Saturday still believes that Ireland have the strength in depth to deal with the issue.
Cunningham will miss Saturday’s Group 10 qualifier against the Swiss after picking up the second of his two yellow cards in the tie against Russia in September.
But Breen has admitted that although Kenny’s absence is a blow, it is not a fatal blow what with Andy O'Brien and John O'Shea available at Brian Kerr’s disposal.
"We're going to miss Kenny - not just on the pitch but off it because he's our captain and a born leader, Breen said.
"Kenny is respected by all the players, but we've got players of top quality so we have what is needed".
