Fifty two times capped Republic of Ireland international and Leeds United captain Gary Kelly has retired from international football. 29 year old Kelly is believed to have spoken with manager Brian Kerr to relay his decision. Kelly made his debut back in 1994 in the green shirt in a friendly with Russia and subsequent games against Holland and Germany ensured a World Cup spot at USA94 for the Drogheda native. His last cap for Ireland was during the penalty shoot-out loss to Spain in the 2002 World Cup and since Kerr took over as manager Keely has not figured.
