Bookmakers have started taking bets on The Undertones' record Teenage Kicks being a festive hit in the wake of DJ John Peel's death.
But Sanctuary Records has said it has no plans yet to re-release the song which was Peel's favourite record.
Such is the certainty that Band Aid III will be number one, William Hill are not accepting bets on the track.
Instead, the bookmakers will give odds of 4/1 on Teenage Kicks reaching number two in the Christmas chart.
"Over the last few days we have been repeatedly asked if we will be offering any prices on the Undertones being a Christmas hit," said a William Hill spokesman.
"It is a tribute to Peel's popularity that music fans are making so many enquiries."
William Hill odds for Teenage Kicks make it the fifth favourite to be the Christmas number one, with Ronan Keating and Cat Stevens' duet on Father and Son leading the pack behind Band Aid III on 9/4.
The Undertones released Teenage Kicks in 1978
Other contenders that have seen strong bets include Ricky Gervais and Noel Gallagher's collaboration on the song Free Love Highway, taken from The Office DVD.
Gervais has insisted he will not release it as a record, but it is being packaged on a limited edition DVD set of The Office.
Bets are also being taken on Robbie Williams, Madonna, Joss Stone and Take That.
Following the announcement of Peel's death, at the age of 65, on Tuesday, BBC Radio 1 played Teenage Kicks in tribute to him.
The Undertones bass player, Michael Bradley, spoke of his shock at the news of his death, paying tribute to him as a "funny, warm man" with a dedication to championing new bands.
