Leeds hope to discover the full extent of Gylfi Einarsson's shoulder problem today after the midfielder was injured playing for the reserves on Wednesday evening.
Einarsson's bad luck continues following his sending off, right, at Ewood Park last month.
The Icelandic international fell heavily to the floor after a challenge during the second string's 0-0 draw with Birmingham City and it is suspected he dislocated his shoulder, and could have damaged the bone.
Einarsson played just 58 minutes and was in considerable discomfort following the incident. The former Lillestrom man left South Leeds Stadium with his arm in a sling, and will have the injury fully examined on Thursday morning.
Having just returned from a three match suspension following his sending off against Blackburn in last month's Carling Cup tie, it is a big blow for the 28-year-old who was hoping to play his way back into first team contention.
"It was extemely painful at the time and it still is now" said Gylfi afterwards.
"I landed on my shoulder and felt something pop out and then go in again, I will have to see the physio's in the morning to learn how bad it is.
"They've already told me it could be three or four weeks out for me, but I hope it won't be longer than two. It's just bad luck."
The news is bound to be of concern to manager Kevin Blackwell who has talked about the need to keep as many players fit and available as possible as Leeds enter a hectic period of fixtures in the run up to Christmas and the New Year that could determine their season.
Leeds are already without winger Steve Stone and striker Richard Cresswell for that period, both currently on the long term injured list.
