Rob Kozluk has been ruled out of Sheffield United's Yorkshire derby with Leeds at Elland Road.
Summer signing David Unsworth is a major doubt and will undergo a late fitness test ahead of the clash.
Defender Kozluk strained a hamstring during the 4-0 midweek win at Millwall and was replaced in the first half, while Unsworth is struggling with a similar injury.
But Craig Short will return to the squad following a full week's training and the former Blackburn centre-half could be fast-tracked into the starting line-up.
Blades boss Neil Warnock must decide who to play up front after Danny Webber and Vincent Pericard turned in goalscoring displays on their midweek return in place of Steve Kabba and Neil Shipperley.
Leeds strikers Rob Hulse and David Healy will receive treatment up until kick-off in a bid to be fit.
The pair have been nursing respective ankle injuries in recent weeks and boss Kevin Blackwell will not be drawn on the chances of both starting in the Yorkshire derby.
"Both are getting treatment and we'll give them as long as we can, but we do have other options up front," Blackwell said.
"Robbie Blake showed up well against Southampton and it shows the value of having several options up front. It's nice to know I have decent replacements.
"One or two other players have little niggles, but hopefully nothing to keep them out of the game."
Blackwell must decide whether to keep faith with skipper Paul Butler and Sean Gregan at the heart of defence, or hand a rare start to Matthew Kilgallon, who replaced the latter early in the second half on Tuesday.
