United boss Kevin Blackwell says he expects Burnley to act after an altercation in the tunnel following Saturday's 2-1 win left Shaun Derry requiring stitches above his left eye.
Both clubs are remaining silent about the incident that led to Derry suffering the injury, but Blackwell has revealed that he has left Burnley to deal with the matter internally.
Derry required five stitches for the wound and is an injury doubt for Tuesday night's match against Southampton at Elland Road.
Said Blackwell:"The position is that Steve Cotterill has a situation to deal with and I am prepared to let him do that because he has assured me he will do and I am prepared to take his word for it.
"There was an altercation but I never saw it because I had already gone into the changing rooms. It is likely to go before the FA so I do not want to say too much.
"It was an incident that has no place in football and I spoke to Steve, his staff saw what went on I am sure they will deal with it.
"Leeds were totally the innocent party here and it is a problem for Burnley to sort out."
The Football Association have confirmed they are liaising with police following the tunnel bust-up.
"The FA are investigating reports of an incident that occurred in the tunnel immediately after Burnley's match with Leeds on Saturday," said an FA spokesman.
"We are currently studying the referee's report and are liaising with police before deciding if there is any action to take."
Burnley boss Steve Cotterill said: "If I find any of my boys are guilty they'll be for it. We won't condone that sort of thing."
