United match winner Rob Hulse has hit out after being refused treatment on the pitch after a tackle left him bleeding.
The incident took place just before half-time in Leeds 2-1 win over Burnley after he had been caught in a challenge by Clarets keeper Brian Jensen that left him with blood oozing from an open wound on his ankle.
Referee Mike Dean though saw him go down but called for play to continue and refused to allow physio Dave Hancock to come on and treat the former West Bromich Albion man.
Hulse said he was genuinely hurt and should have been allowed to receive treatment. He still managed to score the winning goal though.
"The referee admitted to the manager at half-time that he was wrong and he should have stopped the game to let the physio come on and give me treatment," said Rob.
"The referee didn't give me anything and would not stop the game even when I got injured. I have a big cut on my ankle already and their goalkeeper landed on it after I nicked it round him.
"I am not having a go at their goalkeeper because he was committed as well.
"But the home fans gave me stick so it makes it even better to score the winner after that."
Hulse might not even have been playing had it not been for the hard work of United's medical staff earlier in the week after he damaged his ankle in training, so it was an added bonus for him to score.
"The physios have been spot on with me and working with me all week. I managed to get a training session in thanks to them and to come on and get a goal was very pleasing. As a team we dug in and were rewarded with the points.
"We seemed to be sticking ourselves in the mud and making it even harder for ourselves but we've done well and shown good resilience.
"The referee gave us nothing so we're really pleased with the performance."
Hulse's goal saw him meet a cross from Eddie Lewis, and Hulse was quick to pay tribute to the USA international, who also got United's equaliser with a well taken free-kick.
"Ed's won the game for us, it was a great free kick and then it was a great delivery right onto my head and I couldn't miss."
