TRENT REZNOR named Artist Of The Year at Webby awards TRENT REZNOR was named Artist Of The Year last night at the Webby awards in New York City, which recognize excellence on the Internet. Reznor showed his dedication to innovative use of the Web last year with his online distribution of Ghosts I-IV and The Slip, including his decision to make the entire album The Slip available as a free download. Discussing that decision on the red carpet, Reznor told ABC News Radio, "For a band like NINE INCH NAILS, that has a core following, we can give away music, we can charge for a physical product. We can make a premium product and it works." But he admitted that model doesn't work for new bands, and said he's, quote, "wracking my brain" trying to solve that dilemma. Reznor also discussed his online campaign to fund a heart transplant operation for ERIC DE LA CRUZ, the brother of former CNN anchor VERONICA DE LA CRUZ. As previously reported, he and JANE'S ADDICTION have been selling V.I.P. backstage packages for their current tour and soliciting contributions from fans, to raise money for De La Cruz's surgery -- they've raised nearly a million dollars so far. Reznor says he learned about the situation by following Veronica De La Cruz on Twitter, and quote, "it struck me as a pretty human tragic story that really reflected a case of someone falling through the cracks of the healthcare system." 93x.com/article.asp?id=1362242&SBID=4444
