news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/athletics/3599260.stmBritain's Jade Johnson leapt 6.71m with her final attempt to qualify for Friday's women's long jump final. Johnson fouled with her first two jumps but made sure with her third to comfortably advance in sixth place. Triple jump bronze medallist Tatyana Lebedeva of Russia qualified in first place with 6.95m while Australia's Bronwyn Thompson was second with 6.80m. Sweden's heptathlon gold medallist Carolina Kluft also qualified while world champion Eunice Barber is out. Troubled American Marion Jones easily progressed with her second attempt. "The only thing I can say is 'thank God' - and I am not religious," said a relieved Johnson. "That was very stressful, I haven't been in that situation before in a major championship but I think I like the pressure and perform better."
