Macey impressed with a third place in his 110m hurdle heat. The Briton, fourth overall after the first day, clocked 14.56 seconds to bag 903 points in Tuesday's first event. But Macey slipped to seventh position overall on 5357 points, 155 behind third-placed Brian Clay of America. Overnight leader Dmitriy Karpov won the event in 13.97 to extend his lead to 105 points over world champion Roman Sebrle of the Czech Republic.
