The pair finished in seven minutes 7.58 seconds to cruise into a comfortable third behind New Zealand and Germany. They surged into medal contention at the 1,000m mark and gave the Germans a brief battle for silver. But Peggy Waleska and Britta Oppelt pulled away to finish in 7:02.78 , while Kiwi twins Georgina and Caroline Evers-Swindell took gold in 7:01.79.
