Animated adventure Finding Nemo continues to dominate film charts around the world as it remains the biggest international movie.
It reached number one in 20 countries, with estimated takings of $45.9m (£26.3m), following strong openings in Italy and Japan.
Japanese audiences also flocked to see Tom Cruise's The Last Samurai, taking $8.4m (£4.8m) in its opening week.
Master and Commander and thriller SWAT also performed well internationally.
Love Actually, which opened in Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand, reached $13.8m (£7.9m) from 2,725 screens around the world, and continued to top the UK box office.
SWAT, starring Colin Farrell and Samuel L Jackson, took $14.3m (£8.2m) internationally, playing particularly well to audiences in Germany and Spain.
Russell Crowe's seafaring tale Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World took $11.1m (£6.3m) from cinemas in 34 countries, achieving number one position in Australia.
It is widely expected that the opening of the final instalment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Return of the King, will become an international hit and overtake Finding Nemo when it opens on 17 December.
