Horror writer Stephen King is being treated in a US hospital, reportedly suffering from pneumonia. Eastern Maine Medical Centre in King's home state have said the author of The Shining, It and Carrie, was a patient there. He is expected to make a full recovery, his spokesman Warren Silver told the Associated Press (AP) news agency. King is currently writing a 15-part TV drama series called Stephen King's Hospital, and writing a book. Award King is conscious and in good spirits, Mr Silver told AP on Wednesday. The author had been diagnosed with pneumonia in his right lung before a recent trip to New York, where he received an honorary National Book Award for lifetime achievement. His condition is said to have worsened when he returned to Maine and the pneumonia spread to the other lung, Mr Silver told AP. The 56-year-old best-selling author checked into the hospital on Sunday. King was taken into hospital in 1999 after a road accident in which he was struck by a van while walking near his summer home in Lovell.
