Rock group Duran Duran are to receive an honorary prize at next year's Brit Awards, it has been announced.
The band, which recently revived their classic 1980s line-up for a series of shows, will receive the outstanding contribution award.
They will also be among the groups performing at the Brits ceremony on 17 February.
Previous recipients of the award include U2, David Bowie, Sir Elton John and The Who.
Brits committee chairman Peter Jamieson said: "Whilst this award recognises past achievements which are much deserved, I am just as excited about the band's vibrancy today which augurs well for continuing success."
Duran Duran have sold more than 70 million records worldwide since their rise to fame in the early 1980s, with albums including Rio and Seven and The Ragged Tiger.
The original line-up split in the mid-80s with only members Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes carrying on under the name Duran Duran.
But for their latest series of sell-out concerts drummer Roger Taylor, bassist John Taylor and guitarist Andy Taylor - who are not related - rejoined the group.
They recently picked up an MTV Lifetime Achievement Award.
Duran Duran are due to return to the studio in December to finish working on their new album which will be released in spring 2004.
