Star of 70s TV series On the Buses Bob Grant has been found dead at his home, after apparently committing suicide.
The actor, who was 71, was discovered in a fume-filled car at his home in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
A classically trained actor, Mr Grant played the cheeky bus conductor Jack Harper in the comedy, alongside actor Reg Varney.
He died on 8 November, and an inquest has been opened and adjourned at Gloucester Coroners' Court.
On the Buses made its debut on LWT in 1971, running for 74 episodes and spawning three feature films.
Wedding chaos
Originally devised by writers Ronald Chesney and Ronald Woolfe, during the show's final series Mr Grant and co-star Stephen Lewis, who played Blakey, began contributing to scripts.
Mr Grant's fame during this period was such that when he married in 1971 the buses booked to take guests to the reception had to be abandoned because of the chaos caused by so many fans turning up to wish him well.
He had previously appeared in Til Death Do Us Part, and went on to star in a number of failed sitcom pilots.
His last appearance was in the West End in Hobson's Choice seven years ago.
It is thought Mr Grant, who was married, had been suffering from depression for a number of years.
