skysports.planetfootball.comby Mark Buckingham Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock is expecting Preston North End striker Richard Cresswell to join Leeds United. Cresswell appears poised to leave Deepdale before the close of the transfer window after rejecting a new contract. He has been the subject of a failed bid from The Blades and was left out of Preston's team for the defeat at Bramall Lane on Saturday. Lilywhites boss Billy Davies has not given up on keeping Cresswell but is gradually coming to terms with his likely departure. But it seems he will not be joining The Blades, after Warnock claimed that he has been told Cresswell will be heading to Championship rivals Leeds. "Once you see the teamsheet of the other side you speculate for whatever reason," said Warnock. "I've had one or two people tell me things today that I'm keeping to myself. One or two members of their staff have told me where he's going and it's not here. "According to them I think it was Leeds that was mentioned." Davies admits he felt he could not pick Cresswell for the 2-1 loss in South Yorkshire due to the current situation concerning his future. "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why I left him out," said Davies. "It looks as if we are going to lose Richard. "I had a chat with him and he understands why he was left out."
