Pop star Victoria Beckham will help launch BBC One's revamped Top of the Pops (TOTP) programme. The ex-Spice Girl will appear on a live 28 November show, when the programme's new look will be unveiled. A spokeswoman for the show would not reveal whether Victoria Beckham would perform on the show or present it. The 39-year-old programme will be renamed All New Top of the Pops by new executive producer Andi Peters in a bid to win back viewers. The revamped show will be broadcast live each week and will have a new set, logo and theme music. A permanent presenter is due to be announced shortly. Top of the Pops' average weekly audience has halved since 1995, to three million. 'Slight change' Andi Peters, who began his career as a children's presenter and went on to develop Channel 4's T4 strand, became the show's executive producer in July. He replaced Chris Cowey, who was widely credited with saving the show from the axe when he took over six years ago. On Peters' appointment a spokeswoman for Top of the Pops said it format would change "slightly". The new version was likely to include more footage from behind the scenes, she said. "But it will still be led by the charts." The show's backstage "Star Bar", where celebrities are interviewed by presenters, will no longer be seen on screen. Victoria Beckham is relaunching her own pop career, having been signed to the Telstar label and working with US hip hop producer Damon Dash. She has also signed a deal to promote Dash's Rocawear clothing label.
