Rock band The Stranglers, veterans of the late 1970s punk scene, have signed an album deal with their old label EMI.
The deal, for a record that will be released in February next year, marks the band's return to the label after nearly 25 years.
Bass player JJ Burnel told the BBC's 6 Music: "We've honed this line-up and I think EMI saw the chemistry when they came to see us live."
The band, best known for the song No More Heroes, tour the UK in November.
Burnel said the album would be a lot "harder edged" than their previous efforts.
"It's called Norfolk Coast and the first single, Good Thing Coming, is out in January. It'll be no small feat for a bunch of old geezers like us," he said.
Norfolk Coast will feature Burnel and Paul Roberts, who joined the band in 1990, on vocals.
Original Stranglers lead singer Hugh Cornwell, who fronted the band for hits including Golden Brown, Peaches and Duchess, left the band for a solo career.
He is currently in New York mixing a new record produced by Tony Visconti, who worked on several classic David Bowie albums.
